Light Requirements:
Nandina domestica "Leucocarpa" thrives in a range of light conditions from full sun to partial shade. For best fruiting and foliage color, provide it with at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. It can tolerate more shade but may produce fewer berries in low light.

Soil:
This plant prefers well-draining, moderately fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0). However, it is adaptable to different soil types, including sandy, loamy, or clay soils, as long as there is good drainage. Adding organic matter or compost to the soil can improve growth.

Watering:
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Nandina domestica "Leucocarpa" is fairly drought-tolerant but performs best with consistent moisture. Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil feel dry, especially in prolonged dry periods. Avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot.

Temperature and Humidity:
Nandina domestica "Leucocarpa" is hardy in USDA zones 6–9 and can tolerate temperatures as low as -10°F (-23°C). It prefers temperate climates with moderate humidity but can adapt to drier conditions once established. In areas with harsh winters, providing some protection or mulching around the base can help prevent frost damage.

Fertilization:
Fertilize in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote healthy growth and abundant berry production. A second, lighter feeding in mid-summer can help maintain vigor, especially in poor soils.

Pruning:
Pruning is not necessary for health, but it can be done to shape the plant or control its size. Trim back leggy stems in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. You can also remove any dead, damaged, or weak stems at this time. Thinning out older stems occasionally encourages fresh growth.

Propagation:
Nandina domestica "Leucocarpa" can be propagated through semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer or by division in spring. Seeds can also be sown in autumn, although they may take time to germinate.

Pests and Diseases:
This plant is generally pest- and disease-resistant. Occasionally, aphids, scale insects, or spider mites can infest the foliage. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary. Root rot may occur in poorly drained soils, so ensure good drainage to prevent this.

Special Features:
Nandina domestica "Leucocarpa" is known for its unique white berries that appear in fall and persist into winter, offering year-round interest. Unlike the common red-berried varieties, the white berries of "Leucocarpa" provide a striking contrast to the evergreen foliage. The plant is also non-invasive compared to other Nandina varieties.
