A distinctive wiry upright bunch grass with beautiful reddish plumes up to about 3 feet tall. Blooms in late summer and fall. A choice ornamental grass for sunny bed or border. Native to southeastern U.S. In the coastal area of South Carolina the famous sweetgrass baskets traditionally made by African-American women are crafted from the wiry leaves of this grass.
