Sun: Full Shade and Part Shade

Seasonal Behavior: Evergreen

Growth Rate: Slow

Height at Maturity: 12 - 18 Inches

Spread at Maturity: 12 - 15 Inches

Flower Structure: Produces small, inconspicuous, bell-shaped flowers near the base of the plant. The flowers are typically brownish-purple.

Blooming Season: Blooms in late spring to early summer, though flowering is rare in indoor conditions.

Fragrance: The flowers are not particularly fragrant and are often unnoticed due to their location near the soil.

Light Requirements: Prefers low to moderate light; thrives in shady conditions and can tolerate low light levels, making it suitable for indoor environments. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Soil Requirements: Thrives in well-draining, rich, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 5.5-7.0). A mix of regular potting soil with added organic matter, such as compost or peat moss, is ideal.

Watering: Requires moderate watering; keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering frequency in the winter months.

Temperature and Humidity: Hardy in USDA zones 7-11. Prefers temperatures between 50-85°F (10-29°C) and moderate humidity levels. Protect from frost and avoid placing near drafts or heating vents.

Fertilization: Fertilize sparingly; apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilization, which can damage the roots and foliage.

Pruning: Prune to remove dead or damaged leaves as needed; this helps maintain the plant's appearance and encourages new growth. Minimal pruning is generally required.

Pests and Problems: Generally pest-resistant but can occasionally attract spider mites, scale, and mealybugs. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure proper drainage.

Suitable Environment: Ideal for indoor container planting or shaded outdoor garden areas. Known for its resilience and ability to thrive in low-light conditions, making it perfect for offices, homes, and other indoor spaces.
