Flower/Foliage

Flower Description

Jasminum beesianum produces clusters of striking, tubular flowers that open into a star-like shape. The blossoms evolve from a soft pink to deep reddish pink hue, adding a rich touch to the plant. While not as fragrant as some other jasmine species, the flowers have a mild, sweet scent that’s subtly inviting. They bloom in late spring to early summer and provide a vibrant contrast against the plant’s deep green foliage.

Foliage Description

The foliage of Jasminum beesianum is lush, featuring elongated, ovate leaves that are a rich, glossy green. Each leaf grows up to 3 inches long, creating a dense and attractive backdrop for the flowers. The foliage remains evergreen in warmer climates, adding year-round interest, while in cooler climates, it may drop some leaves during winter. The deep green leaves create a perfect foil for the bright blooms, making this jasmine a visually appealing climber for any garden.

Care Info

Light

Jasminum beesianum thrives in full sun to partial shade. For best flowering, position the plant in a spot that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.

Soil

This jasmine prefers well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Amending the soil with organic matter, like compost, will support healthy growth and flowering.

Water

Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season (spring and summer). Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. In winter, reduce watering, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Humidity & Temperature

Jasminum beesianum enjoys moderate humidity and fares best in mild, temperate climates. Protect it from extreme frost by moving it indoors or covering it in colder regions, as it is hardy only down to about USDA zone 7.

Fertilizer

Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer to support foliage and flower production. Avoid fertilizing in late fall and winter.

Pruning

Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushiness. Remove any dead or weak stems to keep the plant healthy.

Support

Since Jasminum beesianum is a climbing vine, provide a trellis or support structure for it to climb.

Pests & Diseases

Keep an eye out for aphids, spider mites, and scale insects. If noticed, treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
