Care Info

Read full care instruction manual here.

Planting Location:
Select a site that receives full sun to ensure optimal flowering and foliage density. While 'Blueberry Muffin' can tolerate partial shade, insufficient sunlight may lead to reduced blooms and a looser growth habit.

Soil Requirements:
Plant in well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot. Amending the soil with organic matter can enhance fertility and structure.

Watering:
Water young shrubs regularly to maintain even soil moisture. Once established, 'Blueberry Muffin' exhibits moderate drought tolerance but benefits from supplemental watering during prolonged dry periods. Avoid overhead watering to minimize the risk of fungal diseases.

Fertilization:
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth and flowering. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for application rates.

Pruning:
Minimal pruning is required due to the shrub's natural mounded shape. If necessary, prune immediately after flowering to maintain desired form and remove any dead or damaged branches.

Pest and Disease Management:
'Blueberry Muffin' is resistant to common leaf spot diseases, such as Entomosporium leaf spot, which can cause leaf drop in other varieties. To maintain plant health, ensure proper spacing for air circulation, water at the base to keep foliage dry, and remove fallen leaves that may harbor pathogens.

Cold Protection:
This variety is noted for its enhanced cold tolerance. However, in regions with severe winters, applying mulch around the base can protect roots from freezing temperatures.

Landscape Uses:
'Blueberry Muffin' is versatile in the landscape, suitable for foundation plantings, hedges, mass plantings, or as a specimen plant. Its year-round interest and low maintenance make it an excellent choice for various garden settings.
