Great Rose Hibiscus
Hibiscus grandiflorus
| Hardiness Zones 7-10
Hibiscus grandiflorus, also known as Swamp Rose Mallow, is a magnificent perennial hibiscus native to the southeastern United States, renowned for its enormous, soft pink blooms and velvety, silvery-green foliage. This striking ornamental hibiscus thrives in wetland areas but is equally stunning when grown in garden beds or near water features, adding a lush, tropical feel to your landscape.
The true highlight of Hibiscus grandiflorus is its breathtaking flowers, which can reach an impressive 8-10 inches in diameter. These delicate blooms are pale to deep pink with a prominent crimson eye at the center, creating a dramatic contrast. The large petals are velvety to the touch, making each flower look and feel like a botanical masterpiece. Blooming from mid-summer through early fall, this hibiscus provides a continuous display of tropical beauty when other plants may be fading.
