Citrus aurantifolia X Fortunella japonica
Eustis Limequat
| Hardiness Zones 8-10
Woodlanders has been a leader in offering a wide range of Citrus and Citrus hybrids which are hardy outdoors beyond the normal Citrus growing areas.
The Eustis Limequat is a unique citrus hybrid bred in Florida—a cross between the Key Lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) and the Nagami Kumquat (Fortunella margarita). It combines the cold tolerance and edible peel of kumquat with the sharp lime flavor and juiciness of Key Lime. The result is a small but mighty citrus tree that thrives in containers, produces prolifically, and delivers zesty fruit perfect for cooking, cocktails, and snacking.
Why Grow Eustis Limequat?
-
Unique flavor: Juicy like a lime, but wrapped in a thin, edible peel that adds sweet complexity. Tart, bright, and aromatic.
-
Compact habit: Naturally small, evergreen tree that grows 6–8 ft in pots or up to 12 ft in the ground with pruning.
-
Cold hardier than limes: More tolerant of cool winters than Key Lime, making it a great option for growers outside tropical zones.
-
Heavy fruiting: Self-pollinating and reliably productive—often bearing in late fall through winter.
-
Container-friendly: Perfect for patios, conservatories, and sunny indoor windows in colder regions.
