American Wisteria Selection

Wisteria frutescens var. nivea

$21.00 Sold out

| Hardiness Zones 5-9

Twining woody deciduous vine with compound leaves and short cluster of white flowers appearing with the leaves. A much less rampant vine than the common Asian Wisterias. This native vine was virtually unknown to American gardeners when introduced by Woodlanders. Tolerant of varying conditions but best in sunny location with ample moisture. This is a good vine for an arbor or trellis. This is the rare white-flowered form of our native Wisteria which was introduced by Woodlanders. It was originally from the Henry Foundation in Gladwynne, PA where it had been grown for many years after having been collected somewhere in the South by Mary Henry many years ago.
